Judith’s Journey to Find Music Therapy…
Judith’s discovery of music for therapy began when her husband at that time, was scheduled for back surgery. She’d been playing her violin at night to help him sleep. Surprisingly, he woke up without back pain or the need for medication. So she recorded his favorite songs to play for him after surgery.
The nurse came in to check his vital signs and give his medication, but discovered he didn’t need it. Noticing the headphones, she asked what he was listening to. Judith told her it was her violin music that helped him relax. She said it was impossible, but then noted in his chart that music instead of medication had been used. Music 4 Life® was created from that experience of replacing medication in a hospital, with her music.
Judith Pinkerton became the first Licensed Board-Certified Music Therapist in the USA, after spearheading efforts that resulted in a new Nevada law for music therapy state licensure. She created Music 4 Life® programs and products that empower people to take control of their own lives. Her Music 4 Life® music therapy practice expanded to work with children and adults experiencing trauma, anxiety, stress-related conditions, anger issues, addiction, depression and loss.
Judith’s mission is to share with the world how music can become a healer. With her wealth of experience, she intuitively uses music to guide people of all ages and lifestyles out of emotional crisis and trauma.
